There are moments in therapy and in life where something inside us softens—
where the frantic searching stops, and a quiet inner landing takes place.
This blog is one such moment.
A poetic reflection on coming home to oneself after years of looking outward for validation, identity, and belonging.
Through grounding, breathwork, and the slow, honest unfolding that therapy invites, we begin to recognise the truth of who we are.
We release the versions of ourselves shaped by other people’s needs, expectations, or emotional histories.
And we meet ourselves again—clear, steady, and whole.
Carl Jung speaks beautifully about this idea through the concept of individuation:
Becoming who you truly are, so that your inner light can shine without distortion.
This poem expresses the emotional landscape of such a moment—
a quiet awakening, a returning, a deepened sense of inner worth.
The Poem
A Poetic Reflection on Self-Discovery by Rina Louw
This morning arrives—quiet, unannounced—
a softness settling in my chest,
a hush, a clearing, an inner space
where I can finally come to rest.
The faces once woven into my worth—
Jack, Naas, Neel—
no longer stand as tokens
nor mirrors I run toward to feel real.
In this stillness, something shifts.
I meet myself—steady, unfiltered, true—
and for the first time,
I cherish the person who stands within me,
a soul awakening, fresh and new.
How did I reach this quieter shore?
Through grounding,
through breath pulled gently inward,
through connection stitched slowly back
into the fabric of my spirit.
Therapy became the open window—
honest, healing, leading me home.
Jung once spoke of the individuated light—
the becoming of oneself,
whole, unbroken, free.
I remember the old fears I held so tight,
the borrowed identities,
the lives I leaned on to feel anchored.
Now I rise differently—
alive, warm, certain.
I step into my days with deliberate stride,
unfurling a journey still untold.
Empowered, I honour the heart inside,
embracing this path,
and all the quiet gold it holds.
🌿 Why This Matters in Therapy
This journey mirrors what so many women experience:
✨ Letting go of identities tied to relationships
✨ Trusting their own inner grounding
✨ Reclaiming their voice, worth, and emotional clarity
✨ Awakening into strength and purpose
It is a psychological, emotional, and spiritual integration—a return to Self.
🌿 If This Poem Resonates With You

letting go of old fears, or trying to meet yourself with more compassion.
I offer online and in-person therapy to support women
on their journeys of healing, individuation, and emotional clarity.
